Song of Solomon 2

Song of Solomon 2:3-6
Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste. 4 Let him lead me to the banquet hall, and let his banner over me be love. 5 Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love.6 His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.

God is Right There With You

Proverbs 3: 21-26
(The Message)
Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don't for a minute lose sight of them.  They'll keep your soul alive and well,  they'll keep you fit and attractive. You'll travel safely,  you'll neither tire nor trip. You'll take afternoon naps without a worry,  you'll enjoy a good night's sleep. No need to panic over alarms or surprises,  or predictions that doomsday's just around the corner,  Because God will be right there with you;   he'll keep you safe and sound.

The past three weeks have been challenging for me.  Keeping the home front running smoothly. Putting in almost 12 hour days with kids, later evenings with older kids and seeing that a warm dinner is ready for David when he does get home.  My husband has a very predictable work schedule.  A very predictable time in which he calls me each day.  A time we both connect about our day, what is going on and how each is doing. I look forward to that time each day.  So what has changed?  Why have the past few weeks been so hard?

I know the answer and it's this season that has me sharing here this evening.  My husband has been working on a very large project, in which he is overseeing at work. This has been in the making for two years and the past three weeks it gets launched. He has had to be all hands on deck, not to mention additional changes to come unrelated to this project as well.  I know it's been a crazy time for him. I know that he is being called to the left and to the right. Early morning meetings, late meetings.  He is in bed much earlier every night and our time, so predictable, after the boys go to bed has been less and less.

I have had to pray more earnestly these past few weeks to guard myself from becoming a whining and needy wife.  Reflecting on God's word for comfort rather than David.  It has not been easy and it's been a challenge.  Right down to doing the dishes almost every night. We have an unspoken around here which is I cook dinner and he does the dishes. It's been that way for years and it has not been that way for a few weeks now.

The Bible is my only means for support. Words that come at times of my greatest need.  God pouring into me, and the Holy Spirit directing my path.  God IS right there with me. I love this passage. I love how the Message just tells it like it is.  In the challenges I have had peace, taken naps and sleep well at night.  God has sustained me.  Given me the extra dose of this or that needed while David finishes up these projects.  Believe me some of the things that go on around here feel like a doomsday, but God always there at every turn. Giving me the love and care I need to make David's life a little easier to come home to.

As wives how do we come along our husband for support while they are overwhelmed with work projects, or work situations.  Do you see in your husband his challenges and ask God to fill you? Or do you beg for more from a man who has given all day?  It has been hard at times, to not want to say "what about me?" "when do I get a night out with you?"  We have those times, just not so many in the past month with all that has consumed him.  Allow and ask God to sustain you.  When your husband comes home, rather than focus on what he did not give you that day, give back to him by serving in a special way.  Tonight my way was a hearty wholesome dinner. I saw the smile on his face. I half expected he would have already eaten so late in the evening, but time did not allow and dinner was waiting. What is waiting when your husband comes home?

I know it's not easy and I know that the today with my hair all over the place was not the most attractive, but making a difference in our husband's day did.   Now go and give that man a french kiss, smile and walk away.

Blessings dear friends!
